I know it has been a while since I have posted, but sometimes, it is important to pause, step back, and see the bigger picture of what is in front of you before moving forward.
6 months ago, back in January, I set out ready to take on 2018. With so much zest, I was excited to step into the new year. You might be able to relate– new beginnings mean the possibility for new adventures, people, and places. Fast forwarding to the middle of the year, does that zeal and excitement still live within you?
Well, that’s why I think it’s important to stop and think: “Am I on the right path?” and “What is the motivation for doing what I do?”
Personally, I have been taking some time to think about my writing and this blog. I started out the year with a grand plan of growth for my little corner of the web. At first, when I wasn’t reaching that ‘growth’, I was disappointed. But when I stopped to reflect about why I do what I do, it became clear that I was growing in subtle, but meaningful ways.
I don’t share my writing because it is important to be widely read and popular. I share my writing because you never know who needs these words. My words aren’t a golden cure for everything nor even one thing. But, they are words that if unpublished, may never reach their audience…even if only that audience means one person. Knowing that there is even the slightest possibility of someone finding meaning, purpose, or healing with these words, helps me grow as a writer and as a person.
Today, I have a clearer vision for my writing and cannot wait to share more with my readers. As I stepped away from the canvas that is life and observed the piece before me, I saw exactly how writing fit in the bigger picture. What will you discover when you take a step back from your masterpiece?
