Motivational Monday: Your Network = Your Net Worth

It may be hard to believe it, but believe it or not, the people you surround yourself with can tell you a lot about yourself. After all, as they say, “your vibe attracts your tribe.” So, the way you act and react to your environment will draw certain people towards you. The key is knowing what you want to achieve and if those you attract around you support your dreams. Do you see your future in those who surround you? Often times, people overlook the fact that they can find role models in their everyday lives—people they aspire to be or be like. It’s not about being in competition with people but being in collaboration with them. Surround yourself with a network that you want to reflect your values because after all your network is your net worth.

Keep in mind that your behavior and demeanor will dictate what kind of people you are with. Don’t change who you are because the same people attracted to your façade may not be attracted to the real you. As you meet new people, think, are there qualities in them that you would like to see in yourself? Does someone’s drive motivate you? If so, it’s not being a copycat to strive to be as dedicated and driven as that person. A role model that you know can help you achieve easily attainable dreams. Also, on the plus side, since you know that person, he or she can personally help you reach your goals, giving you tips or advice from their journey.

One of the most important things to remember when forging a strong network is that true friendship is not a competition. It’s about supporting, collaborating, and bringing out the best in each other. Stronger bonds result in a strong network. This network that you build will not only define you but it will highlight your morals and qualities. Keep people in your surroundings that will better you and remember that your network is a direct reflection of your values—essentially your network makes up your net worth.
